Since mum passed, he doesn’t cook much and I cook when I can.
To night I made fillet steak, hash browns, onion rings, a quick cool salsa and some BBQ dipping sauce.
Took it through to him and before even trying the steak he cut up a piece of steak and dunked it into the BBQ dipping sauce (which I put for his hash browns and onion rings) and put it in his mo uth and said, ‘hmm, it’s alright’.
I despair sometimes.

Reminds me of my wife making homemade pasta for her grumpy grandfather (who we loved) and him saying “I never ate like this before.” It wasn’t a compliment.

Well done steak with a bottle of ketchup. That’s how POTUS likes his.

If you want to wow him brine some chicken breast, then after its brined rinse & dry it. Cut slit in it, then put various herbs inside or (tyme stems work well). Do quick rub of olive oil, chili power, lemon juice. Then bake in the oven with lemon slice on top. If there is any chicken juice in the pan do a quick chicken gravy. If it looks as good as it tastes, it might trick his brain.

I did the steak just how he liked it, medium.
He’s nothing like potus, thankfully.

Wouldn’t be as bad but when he cooks, he thinks you need to boil cauliflower for two hours so it turns to much when you put it in your mouth and move your tongue against it.

O.o
i steam cauliflower for about 30-40 minutes
and even that is about enough to make it melt in your mouth

Nah, in future I’ll give him his dinner and get out the room quickly before I see him eat.

You’re a good step son. I’m sure he appreciates it more than you realize.

Who is? Hopefully, nobody.

Ye’, I know he does. He keeps telling people I look after him and makes sure he eats right. I just don’t want to see how he eats the food I m ake in future. Lol.
I did sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice yesterday which he enjoyed a lot.

My step-father is nothing like potus and well to be honest the potus is nothing like a president. Lol.

M dad thinks adding ho t sauce is the same as seasoning something. Literally he will cook plain chicken, vegetables, and bread and just cover everything in butter and hot sauce. I made him a Thai noodle recipe and added extra pepper flakes and seasoning since I know he likes spicy food. He dumped half a bottle of the hottest sauce on it since “pasta and veggies are always bland!”....to his credit, he said it was delicious but I do worry about his health now. Pretty sure those noodles could’ve dissolved thin steel .

I would not of wanted to of been in the room with him later that day. Lol.
I like spicy, but not to the point I can’t taste what I’m eating because my mouth is tingling/burning.

Wait, you cook?!
Good job taking care of him. I’ m sure it’s been a tough day for you both.

Ye’, I’ have been known to, have I never mentioned it? Lol.
Well we live together but he always did the cooking for mum as she didn’t like to eat much and when she did it was nothing at all adventurous.
My step-father always took bits of mine as he liked the variety of food I cooked.
I did sweet and sour chicken with egg fried rice the other day.
Salmon with egg fried rice and a little hoisin sauce.
Roast chicken with creamed cabbage, carrot and swede mash, steamed herb buttered new potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and chicken gravy.

You are quite an amazing cook.

Thanks, but I’m not.
I just realised that instead of cooking for cookings sake, I could put a little more time and effort and make something I can appreciate and enjoy.

Have you ever considered food photography? You do a good presentation.
![]() 03/31/2019 at 16:35 |

Thanks. No, never considered it at all about it.
Mind, if you asked me years ago, I’d of thought you were winding me up of that even being a thing, but now I know it’s a thing and hand models, etc...
I like to present it as if I was eating out and like how I’d want it presented to me.

Food photography is a real thing for cookbooks, restaurants, and g rocery stores. People make livings taking pictures of everyday food presented in appetizing ways.

I know, but if you asked me 15-20 years ago, I would of thought you were taking the piss or something. Lol.

You’re amazing to me.

Thanks!?
I’m really not though.
I’d say I’m the least amazing person I know. So many peo ple have so much more than me to deal with every day with little to no escape to catch their breath. Those people are amazing.
